As one of three brothers and now a father of two children, A Mother of
Sons was both a reminder and a vision of what is in store. Jayne Jaudon Ferrer's poetry is magnificent, often taking
me from belly laughs to the verge of tears in the same poem. My heart was filled with memories of my childhood with
my Mother and her sons, and with the vision of my children going through life with similar but distinct memories. It
is amazing to me how mothers, who have the hardest job in the world, make it look so easy. The joys and tears that
mothers all over the world face are encapsulated in Ferrer's poetry. This book is both a gift and a treasure, which
my wife and I keep handy whenever there is a chance to read.

The 9 months preceding and the 12 months
following child birth are exciting, trying, confusing times; they are the
months of many questions. You wonder about your itchy palms, morning sickness,
fetus development, home midwife or hospital doctor choices, what to eat,
amniocentesis, miscarriages, labor painkillers, maintaining your physical and
emotional health after childbirth, and, not least, how to care for your
growing, developing baby. A live-in pediatrician would be nice; a 750-page
comprehensive reference guide is the next best solution. It won't eliminate
anxiety, but it's a reassuring presence, and a soothing source of answers and
explanations. This book also provides: Illustrations and photos of your baby's
development; Guidelines for when and when not to call your physician; Useful
tips on dealing with morning sickness, exercise, nutrition, etc. This book is
very easy to read and very in depth. It is one of the most comprehensive book
we have come across.

Eighteen years after it first hit the
shelves and having sold more than 10 million copies, What to Expect When You're
Expecting is still on nearly every mother-to-be's reading list. This completely
revised and updated edition is packed with answers to hundreds of questions and
worries expectant parents may have. The information is presented in a
month-by-month format starting with planning a pregnancy and choosing a
practitioner, and follows through to six weeks after delivery. Each chapter
begins with an explanation of what to expect at a particular month's prenatal
visit and a brief description of how mom and baby are growing and changing
before getting to the heart of the matter: What You May Be Concerned About.
Topics are presented as questions ranging from "Should I be taking vitamins?"
to "What if I forget everything I learn in childbirth education class?" to
"Will I be able to breastfeed?" The answers are generally reassuring and
provide enough information to soothe a worried mom between prenatal visits.
Despite the reassuring answers, however, the sheer volume of worries discussed
may alarm an otherwise calm mom-to-be.

Finally, a book for guys that solves the riddles of pregnancy.
Do you think that newborn babies can eat Doritos? That they can't scream very
loudly since they just have tiny little baby lungs? That you will still be able
to golf on weekends after your baby is born?
If so, you need this book!
Breathe takes guys misstep-by-misstep through the stages of pregnancy and the
early days of childhood. Considered by many to be the unofficial pregnancy
handbook of the NBA, Breathe is filled with useful tips such as these:
Brown's First Law of Conception: The odds of conception are inversely
proportional to its desirability. High school virgins experimenting behind
bleachers are guaranteed to get pregnant; financially secure married men hoping
for children are doomed to spend their weekends in fertility clinics
masturbating into cups.
Picking a doctor: Never use a gynecologist whose Medical School Diploma has
palm trees on the side.
Pre-Natal Music: Mozart, yes. Wagner, No!
Common Concerns: If your baby is born with dark hair that covers its head,
back, neck, temples and forehead, don't panic. This is perfectly normal. It
just means your baby was born Italian.
Child experts from all over the world agree -- if you're a first time father,
drop your baby and pick up this book!
